THREE players from the Augathella Junior Rugby League club were selected for a representative side to play in Clifton this week.
Under -10's players Campbell Newell, David Nunn and Jake Forrest are representing western Queensland at the week long Under 10 Zone 5 carnival.
The boys had their first game on Monday against last years reigning champions, Wynnum.
They started off strong with David scoring the first two tries of the game to see them in the lead at the half time mark, 10-0.
They boys couldn't keep up the momentum in the second half though and the Wynnum side came away with the victory, 26-16.
Augathella Junior Rugby League trainer Dan Nunn said despite the loss the boys had a really good game.
"The side they played against were undefeated last year so they did well considering this,” he said.
"But the boys had a really good game and it filled them with a lot of confidence going in to the competition.”
The carnival will run until Monday and the boys will play a total of eight games across the week.
"It's a great opportunity for the boys as they get to play with high quality teams and get some good quality football matches,” Nunn said.
"The kids come out at the end of the week as much better football players.”
Nunn said the carnival was a great chance for the boys to get to know other players.
"They haven't played with the Cunnamulla kids very much so it's a good chance for them to bond as a team and get to know other kids from other areas.”
