Grand re-opening a huge boost for Morven
THE shelves are stocked and the doors are wide open at the Morven Friendly Grocer, for the first time in two and a half years.
The team at the new one-stop-shop celebrated the first day of trade on Friday, joined by family and friends in the community, who were eager to see what the Burey family had done to turn around the shop and check out the goods they can now get close to home.
"The biggest thing for most people will be having a supply of fresh fruit and veggies seven days a week,” co-owner Cathy Burey said.
"One of our main concerns was for our elderly residents and making sure they're getting good food, so having it all here in town for them will make a difference.”
As a truly local enterprise, manager Vicky Burey has been ensuring everyone who had a hand in opening the store has been a part of the community.
"Our family has been working pretty much 24/7 to get it up and running,” Mrs Burey said.
"We've also had help from friends, extended family, and plenty of locals who came out for the working bee.
'We can't thank them enough, because it wouldn't look this good without their help.”
Morven Friendly Grocer opens 8am-5pm on weekdays, and from 9am on weekends.
