Southwest boasts cheapest land in state

MUNGALLALA boasts the cheapest block of land on the Queensland market.

In a report released by realestate.com.au, two 1,024sqm plots of land at 16 and 18 Burke St are selling at a steal, with the asking price set at $6000 each.

The plots are in a sunny, central location, only a stone's throw from the town's golf club, affection- ately dubbed The Royal Box, which is a popular hangout for the town locals.

The second cheapest plot of land in Queensland is two hours further west, at 43 John St, in Cunnamulla.

The plot, selling for $6500, is nine hours to Brisbane and but just four minutes and two streets away from Cunnamulla's central amenities, including shops, the bowls club, football oval and pool.

The plot also has access to town water and sewerage, as well as being fully fenced.

Only slightly more expensive in third is 7 Railway Pde in Injune, on the market for $7000.

The vacant 800sqm block comes with electricity, water and sewerage.

The largest block below $10,000 on the market today is a 1619sqm piece at 14-16 Mulga St, Brigalow.

Priced at $9000, it's described as being "naturally timbered” and fronts a bitumen road which is always good in the country.

If your dream is have a patch of earth to call your own, the south-west is leading the pack.

Raine and Horne Roma real estate agent Athol Cleland said that these prices took into account several factors.

"They would be based on population and employment opportunities in the area,” Mr Cleland said.

"It would be difficult to say when these plots might sell.”
